What should you do if you are involved in a motor vehicle accident?
The following information should be written down at the time of the accident -
-
Name and driver's license number of other vehicle's driver
-
Automobile license tag number of other vehicle
-
Insurance company information for other driver (company, policy number, agent's name and telephone number)
-
Witnesses (name, address and telephone number)
REQUEST the Police officer to make an official report. Ask for the report number.
DO NOT SPEAK with any insurance company until you have talked to your attorney, as many times your insurance company becomes your adversary.
TRY TO OBTAIN PHOTOGRAPHS of the vehicles involved in the accident. It is also helpful if you have photographs of your injuries as well as the injuries of the occupants of your vehicle.
TRY TO OBTAIN COPIES of any and all motor vehicle repair estimates.
HAVE YOUR insurance policy handy.
MOST IMPORTANTLY, IF YOU ARE INJURED, FIRST SEEK COMPETENT MEDICAL TREATMENT AS SOON AS POSSIBLE AND THEN CALL OUR LAW OFFICES.
